And finally on our day in Vancouver ….

Our next stop was the make-or-break clinic in Vancouver to pay CAN$99 each (an outrageous price!) for a Covid test in order for us to be able to board the ship.

We had already agreed between the four of us that if anyone did test positive, then the other couple would still go ahead with the cruise.

Marion and Mike went in first and then had to wait a tantalizing 20 minutes for the results.  Eventually the man emerged with two certificates.  On each was written in large print – NEGATIVE!

We were next and, with some trepidation, we went inside the testing room.  I asked the clinician if he could tell me how many positive results he had had in the past 2-3 weeks.  He said only a couple and that the people concerned in each case felt that they would be positive.

A certain amount of relief started coursing through my veins.  Tests over we left the room to wait for our 20 minutes of suspense.

The man emerged once again and it was a carbon copy event – two certificates with NEGATIVE on them.  We would be getting on board!

Off we went, heading for the waterside and a restaurant for our celebratory evening meal.
