Day 2: Alexander Graham Bell and Brantford

Alexander Graham Bell is celebrated as the inventor of the telephone and, being a Scot, I always assumed he did that in Scotland.

No, he didn't.  As Bell and his siblings were afflicted by tuberculosis, the family was advised that living in Canada might help their health - which it did.  So it was that Bell's parents set up home in Brantford where Alexander's father was a speech therapist and his mother was an artist.

We went to the Bell homestead which is beautifully laid out with a visitor centre, the family home itself and the Henderson House the first business house of the Bell Telephone Company.

We had a tour which turned out to be just the four of us and it was a fascinating insight into the invention and development of the early telephone.
